The W.O.M.B capsule is designed with transparency in mind, and the positive psychological impact that this has on astronauts. It allows for great views of the martian environment and reduces the need for artificial energy to light up spaces and to grow plants. By making use of different layers of 3D printed regolith, an ETFE membrane and G3DP Glass, radiation is kept to a minimum without the need to build underground. W.O.M.B honors the men and women that reach the surface of Mars by providing them with a deeper connection to the surrounding landscape and by keeping them exactly there, on the surface.

The habitat is designed around a vertical garden that facilitates food production and creates an indoor community. This green datum also helps in the regulation of O2 produced inside the habitat as well as providing the opportunity for the maximization of internal spaces. The design process takes into consideration multiple aspects that range from deployment, to construction to self-sustainability.
